The commissioned work by the young American Phoebe Washburn shown this summer was already a sign of things to come: In the future, the Deutsche Guggenheim's program will concentrate to a greater degree on presenting positions of younger art. The unique joint venture of Deutsche Bank and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation has set standards with commissioned works by artists such as Andreas Slominski, Rachel Whiteread and Gerhard Richter. With the works created especially for the exhibition space by Anish Kapoor 2008 and Julie Mehretu 2009 this position will be highlight once more. The institution will additionally celebrate its birthday with a special program of events and innovative offers.

The Deutsche Guggenheim's 10th anniversary will be celebrated between November 3 and 9 with a variety of events centered around the Jeff Wall show, "Jeff Wall: Exposure", which can be viewed for free during this period. Here in Berlin, the Canadian star artist presents four new black-and-white photo works along with selected earlier pieces. On November 3, 2007, the Deutsche Guggenheim invites to an Artist's Talk with Jeff Wall. In a conversation with Jennifer Blessing, the curator of the exhibition, the prominent representative of staged photography will give an introduction to his works.
